I'm Melissa; pretend journalist and currently real-life accountant wannabe. I used to be a kid in highschool, but I've since kicked the habit. At 18 years of age I'm just moving through life, enjoying my free-time and earning lots of money whilst still living with my parents. Continued on page 2...
Well, well

“How can you leave me standing alone in a world that is so cold? Maybe I'm just too demanding - maybe I'm just like my father to you. Maybe I'm just like my mother, she's never satisfied. Why do we scream at each other? This is what it sounds like, when doves cry. Quindon Tarver - When The Doves Cry”
How are we all? A Merry Christmas to all of you nice people out there. To those evil, pricks of customers that give me shit: to hell with all of you!
I’ll expand on my insane previous comment, but firstly I’ll announce that I’m working on a new layout for this place and some new content to excite things up again. Hooray for holidays. It should be pretty cool ;).
Now: customers. I’d like to say that some of them can be the sweetest people ever, and I do enjoy a good chat to a lot of people that come and ask my assistance. But some people are downright rude, and treat retail workers as though we’re supposed to worship the ground they walk on. We don’t roll out the red carpet for anyone, thanks, we’re working here to get some money. We’re doing you a service for your money, not being your servant. Yesterday we had the manager from childrenswear working in soundbar to help us get our stock cages unpacked before next week’s sale, so there were three of us in our section all day. Sameen, the other girl working with me, was out in the DVD aisles helping a customer. I was serving a customer on the register, and there was noone else immediately demanding attention, so when the phone rang the manager picked it up. It was the registers manager discussing staffing and when the store was closing, which you could clearly overhear. She’s on the phone for no more than 2 - 3 minutes, and by the time she’s hung up there’s another guy standing in front of our counter while I was finishing off my sale. He said, quote, “I hope that was a business related phonecall, because you’ve made me wait a very long time,” to the manager. Oh. My. God. It was a slap in the face type comment, and all I could do was just stare at him. What an arrogant prick!
You really learn a lot about people when you work in retail. You see a different side of someone’s character - how they treat people working to please them. We’re not below you; I could kick your arse in a lot of subjects, intellectually. You’re asking for my help, you need me to get the information you need about the products you want to buy - treat me like a fucking human, not some slave-dog. Though as I said, most people are lovely and I spend most of my day smiling, but it’s just a few who have to go and spoil it.
