I'm Melissa; pretend journalist and currently real-life accountant wannabe. I used to be a kid in highschool, but I've since kicked the habit. At 18 years of age I'm just moving through life, enjoying my free-time and earning lots of money whilst still living with my parents. Continued on page 2...
Another big update

Heaps has happened in the past few weeks.. Heaps of cool stuff, interesting stuff, amusing stuff, annoying stuff, and stressful stuff to top it all off. Stress being the only one I don’t like. :P Lately we’ve been given so much school work all at once, and sure, I can do the work, but it’s a matter of having time to do the work. I probably sound like a bit of a complainer, but geez. :P Spread the work out, lol. It feels like so many teachers think they’re the only teacher their students have, which makes them feel free to dump them with as much homework as humanly possible, forgetting that there’s a possibility they already have a heap of homework to do. I’m going to have to learn to cope because senior years are coming up, but for the moment I say “Stuff you, teachers” and my point is made.
Other than that, life has been pretty good. One of the most recent and *big* events that has happened was getting a dog. Or a puppy, really, little 4kg ball of fluff that makes life difficult, but everyone loves him anyway. :P Before getting him I wasn’t too fussed on pets, not really caring whether I got one or not. Though now that he’s here I guess you can’t help but like him. This being him.
I also went on a Latin excursion for school to a museum that’s part of Sydney University. It was absolutely awesome to go to.. the guide that took us around was a little bit on the creepy side because he was so enthusiastic, but it really did make a difference that he actually knew what he was talking about and enjoyed what he did. I learnt so much about an assortment of different things, and not only about Roman history either. Greek and Egyptian as well. Did I mention I used to have a really huge fascination with ancient Egyptian history and culture etc? Well, if not, I did just then. :O And it was cool (even though most will find this disturbing), because there were these actual mummies that were on display (mummies aren’t normally on display because they’re offensive to a lot of people, religious reasons, moral reasons, whatever), and it’ll probably be the only time I’ll ever be able to see them. Sure, the mummified head was kind of gross looking, but never mind that. We also got to look at a lot of Latin and Greek tombstones, which again was interesting but probably a tad morbid :P Ahh ancient history.. What would I do without you? Australian history will haunt me until year 11 when I can drop it. Australia doesn’t have any history! :( :P
Lastly, I’ve also been getting off my arse and doing my homework, and learning Esperanto *finally*. I’ve really wanted to learn it for ages, except I never forced myself to get into it *sigh*. Though now that I am, there’s no going back :P I shall practise religiously for at least half an hour a day. I should also practise my Greek for half an hour, too.
Have you ever realised how pre-programmed your brain becomes? Try switching to a Dvorak keyboard layout and you’ll find out. God is it ever had to teach yourself to type all over again.
